Sickle cell is inherited when a child receives two sickle gene from both parents. Parents with sickle cell trait passes the sickle cell gene to the child and he ends up with sickle cell disease. The sickle cell hemoglobin comes in form of two letters,it might be S or C. When both parents have the trait, there is one in four chance (25%) that the child will have sickle cell and two in four chance (50%) the child will have sickle cell trait. There is also one in four chance (25%) that the child will have neither sickle cell nor the trait. In a situation where only one parent has the trait and the other does not,there is 0% probability that the child have sickle cell disease.
